Much of my surreal steampunk work is influenced by my study of Concept Design and 3D Animation. Many of these works began as detailed pen and ink drawings, some became etchings and others went a step further and became paintings. The idea is to form bio-mechanical objects from everyday items that appear to be more than what they seem. The influence of MC Escher is present in much of these works. I use collage in areas and then mimic the collage by hand painting further areas to match. The collage is generally Japanese origami paper which has intricate design offering brilliant colour and pattern.
