Artwork Description

Various parrots visit my bird feeder. The lorikeets are funny with their antics, and can be quite thuggish with the other species. But when you see a pair of them grooming each other it's quite tender. And their colours are beautiful!

Artist Bio

Paul Bird is a Perth-based artist.

Paul grew up in north and south-east Queensland, and has lived in Singapore, Broken Hill, Gippsland, Papua New Guinea, Melbourne and other places. He is fascinated with light and the power of an image to evoke a sense of place, a memory or a mood.

He has a background in engineering and music, and seeks the ancient values of truth and beauty... he believes that you especially must have a little bit of beauty in your life – its ephemeral but intense and sometimes surprising when it touches you, so soak it up as you can.

His oil paintings are inspired by experiences, visual insights, observations and emotional connections. He loves depicting people, birds, urban and rural landscape, flora, scenes of interest and compositions, colours and textures in harmony.

Paul's paintings reflect a little piece of what's all around us and provide an evocative image for ongoing enjoyment.
