Tall gums tower above dry grasses in the back paddocks behind the suburb of Kearns, the view stretching out toward the hills of Gledswood.
This was the first oil painting I painted en plein air; what a thrilling experience. The freedom to find a spot you like, setting up while battling the wind, and the rush of trying to get the painting down as the light changes and fades. There is a spontaneity gained from this kind of pressure - a good pressure.
