Artwork Description

I love the dark, low-contrast vibe of dusk. The clouds made of subtle gradients and value shifts. As it descends below the horizon, sometimes the sun just manages to grasp the edge of the clouds, adding a bright pop of colour against the moody greys.

This piece was painted in 2022, and is varnished with Gamblin Gamvar Gloss Varnish.

“I love observing light, its various effects, and the way our perception affects how we think of what we see. When I paint, I seek to explore this through landscape paintings featuring dramatic skies, and strong light and shadow, and often use these to highlight the everyday things we see as we go about our lives.”

Paul grew up in South-West Sydney in a family who values creative activities like music and art; and subsequently did a lot of both throughout his formative years. He now works full time as a 3D Artist for a video game studio in Sydney.
