I enjoy visiting a scene and collecting multiple photos at different angles then going back to the studio and recreating the scene with added emotion and feeling. Things I could not capture in the photo.
In this scene of Reid Park in Mosman, NSW, I wanted to include lots of smaller scenes that I noticed while sitting in the park. Runners crossing the bridge, a dog chasing a ball that its owner has just thrown, the morning sun gleaming of the fence rail, small particles captures by the sun floating near the tree trunk. By combing these smaller scenes into one large story I hope to keep the viewer engaged for longer or to come back multiple times, noticing something new each time.
There is a sense familiarity in the scene that one can relate to. My intension is that the artwork will bring some calmness to a room but with a bit of intrigue.
I use Derwent Graphite Pencils for my drawings and buildup layers of details to create the depth. The limited edition giclée print is printed on 310 gsm cotton rag.
