Originally from Nelson, NewZealand, a region known for it's painters and potters, I have spent the majority of my life in the Melbourne bayside suburbs of Black Rock and Sandringham. A year ago I returned to painting following an absence of several years devoted to a family business.
With a maths background, many of my paintings are geometric abstract works. The multi-layered sharp edges clearly define the composition often in a modern naive landscape setting. These multi-layered paintings provide an optical sense of dimension with expressive shapes and colour definition.
I also paint free form abstracts instinctively applying colour on colour usually in combinations of light colours. Some works use as little as two or three colours in more controlled simplicity as shown in my 'Berlin" work featuring in my Bluethumb portfolio.
