Waking at dawn while camping next to Lake King William, near Derwent Bridge, Tasmania, I was struck by the eerie but beautiful landscape. The mist was rolling down the Derwent River as the fog was clearing from the lake. Despite human destruction inflicted upon the environment through the flooding of the valley, nature still manages to create something beautiful.
I initially painted this scene 'en plein air' by the lake and have since revisited the subject matter a couple of times now ... each time with a slightly different outcome. This is a large piece and would make a great talking point.
The painting is on a wooden board and would require framing.
