Artwork Description

Morning walks around Hobart in spring are filled with quiet beauty. This painting captures the deep purple leaves of the ornamental plum (Prunus cerasifera ‘Nigra’) set against soft, overcast skies.

Created using the finest quality paints on hand-stretched canvas, this work is ready to hang and designed to bring warmth and joy to any space.

Artist Bio

Paula Bowers is a Tasmania-based artist whose work is shaped by the changing seasons, shifting skies, and the emotional interplay of colour, shadow, and light.

Originally from Sydney, Paula relocated to Tasmania three years ago, drawn by its slower pace, cooler climate and deep connection to nature. She now lives and works in Hobart and is currently studying Fine Arts at the University of Tasmania’s School of Creative Arts. Her first solo exhibition is scheduled for September 2026 at Top Gallery, Salamanca Arts Centre.

Paula’s practice explores the space between reality and imagination. She is particularly interested in how perspective shapes the way we experience both the outer world and our inner lives. Through intentional brushwork and a considered use of colour, Paula creates meditative compositions that invite viewers to pause and reconnect with the beauty and wonder of the natural environment.
