I was raised Catholic, so naturally I have visions of hell in my future. I was pondering the age of the selfie, and worse still, the self obsessed. So in a Machiavellian moment I invented an extra void of hell where the worst of these people may end up. They would all look identical in their goblin bodies, and have nothing to do for all eternity except look at their image in a puddle. Sounds like hell to me.
Also though the work is intriguing, and the turquoise colours of the goblins are beautiful.

Artist Bio
Paula Maggs is an expressionist artist living and working in Melbourne. Her intuitive painting style conveys intense emotional states through colour and gestural mark making.
Maggs seeks to utilize the materiality of the paint to express psychological states. Her underlying concern is to dig beneath the facade of what it means to be human.
She completed a Master of Fine Art (with distinction) at RMIT in 2023.
Maggs has exhibited in both group and solo shows around Melbourne, as well as participating in a residency for Melbourne Fashion Week in 2021.
Previous study includes a Bachelor of Design Arts (with distinction) in 2021 from LCI Melbourne.
