When walking along the tracks on the Tasman Peninsular Tasmania, I am always intrigued by the tortured shapes of the eucalypt trees that manage to survive this rugged windblown environment. I am inspired by what feels a somewhat eerie scene as if a giant hand were at play. I portrayed this with a soft blue-grey background contrasting with the golden-brown bark of the trunk while emphasising the writhing of the limbs by catching the shimmer of light from above.
"Writhing" would provide the viewer much to explore within its composition while affording time for contemplation.
