Inspired by Penelope’s time in living in Mornington and a love of collecting and foraging for fabrics and ceramics, her collection of flowers and jugs acrylic on canvas were created.
Beautiful paintings that adds beauty to a space capturing a moment in time that she hopes brings joy, happiness and stillness to the eye. Inspired by the object collected over time thoughtfully displayed in her home and the beautiful garden surrounding it. Working on one painting at a time, a still life of flowers, fruit and vegetables with treasured vintage ceramics and fabrics. Often become a series as the theme is explored. Paintings sit in her living space as she looks at them, they evolve until one day she knows they are complete.
Studying at East Sydney Technical College in 1990, Fashion and Textiles was such an amazing experience of colour, design and aesthetics. Then going on to complete a Bachelor of Business in 2002. After being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2009, she decided to do something she was passionate about, painting and completed Master of Art at the University of New South Wales’ College of Fine Art (2010). At the same time, teaching and the Campus Manager of Esmod, a French Fashion School in Small Street, Surry Hill. This was short lived as the school didn’t have longevity in Australia.
Moving to Mornington, she was only going to stay a year and that was in 2011 and she is still here in the house on the hill.
