Artwork Description

The Australian Galah is a bird of many personalities. They can be quiet and curious one moment and crazy, loud and erratic the next. The colours are very different from other native birds with their grey and pale pink feathers. Their beautiful pale pink crest when raised shows of their character and interest in the world.

Penny Matchett is an emerging Contemporary Australian Artist from NSW who draws inspiration from her childhood and the joys of the surrounding environment. Penny is captivated with the shapes and colours in the natural environment and focuses on the beauty she sees in Australian native flora and fauna.

Penny’s work combines the use of loose, vibrant colours with sharp, structured lines representing the fluidity and unsettled state of the natural environment.
