My passion is my own form of 'pop art'... taking snippets of popular culture and 'framing' personal experiences and passions. I think it's important to emphasize, unlike many artists, I choose NOT to use stencils or printed collages; these works are all freehand, free flowing original and unique compositions. I'm not going for perfection (well, that's what I keep reminding myself), this is 'first hand' storytelling.
They take a great deal of planning, I work countless hours in my journal and on an iPad and desktop, simplify iconic images, contextualising, reworking and then compiling into large paintings using semi-gloss acrylic paint, markers and charcoal.
I stretch my works on handmade, premium grade timber after completion, so the image wraps around the edges making them great for both framed or unframed.
