Artwork Description

“Blossom” was a gallery finalist in the 2023 Lethbridge Small Scale Art Award.
This artwork is an exploration of the visible and hidden aspects of our personality. The combination of stark black and white with vivid, expressive colours provokes introspection of the contradictions shaping our identities; whilst the fruit and apple blossoms symbolize renewal, growth and the potential for new beginnings.
Blossom is framed and ready to hang.

Artist Bio

Peta Harvey is a Brisbane-based scientist with a not-so-secret life as an artist. After studying Ceramics at the Australian National University’s School of Art, her creative energy is now focused on developing drawing skills and exploring the freshness and spontaneity of ink and watercolour painting, often in combination with pen or pencil.

Peta exhibits frequently in group shows and has been selected for a variety of curated exhibitions. Most notably, she has been a finalist with her portraits and figurative works in the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize 2022, Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award (2020-2023) with a Highly Commended award in 2021, Bluethumb Art Prize 2022, and Revival Art & Design Emerging Artist Prize 2023-2024.
