Artwork Description

Moonstruck depicts a young woman rendered in graphite and charcoal, paused in quiet anticipation before stepping into the night. Light and shadow shape her features, emphasising introspection over narrative. The title suggests a state of influence—by mood, by nightfall, by something felt rather than seen.

This portrait was a finalist in the Bluethumb Art Prize 2022

This charcoal drawing is protected by cold wax varnish and mounted to a cradled board.
It is ready to hang.

Artist Bio

Peta Harvey is a Brisbane-based scientist with a not-so-secret life as an artist. After studying Ceramics at the Australian National University’s School of Art, her creative energy is now focused on developing drawing skills and exploring the freshness and spontaneity of ink and watercolour painting, often in combination with pen or pencil.

Peta exhibits frequently in group shows and has been selected for a variety of curated exhibitions. Most notably, she has been a finalist with her portraits and figurative works in the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize 2022, Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award (2020-2023) with a Highly Commended award in 2021, Bluethumb Art Prize 2022, and Revival Art & Design Emerging Artist Prize 2023-2024.
