Artwork Description

“Saffron” explores the themes of introspection and the power of stillness in a busy world. The abstract marks in the background and yellow sweater convey a sense of vibrancy and energy, while the detailed rendering of the portrait captures the attention and invites reflection. The drawing on paper is custom framed with a pale timber frame.
"Saffron" was a finalist in the Revival Art & Design Emerging Artist Prize 2023.

Artist Bio

Peta Harvey is a Brisbane-based scientist with a not-so-secret life as an artist. After studying Ceramics at the Australian National University’s School of Art, her creative energy is now focused on developing drawing skills and exploring the freshness and spontaneity of ink and watercolour painting, often in combination with pen or pencil.

Peta exhibits frequently in group shows and has been selected for a variety of curated exhibitions. Most notably, she has been a finalist with her portraits and figurative works in the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize 2022, Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award (2020-2023) with a Highly Commended award in 2021, Bluethumb Art Prize 2022, and Revival Art & Design Emerging Artist Prize 2023-2024.
