The title 'within and without' refers to the ease and self-awareness of this muse, who appears balanced both physically and emotionally. Careful consideration of tone allows the body and form to emerge from the abstracted background created by charcoal wash.

Peta Harvey is a Brisbane-based scientist with a not-so-secret life as an artist. After studying Ceramics at the Australian National University’s School of Art, her creative energy is now focused on developing drawing skills and exploring the freshness and spontaneity of ink and watercolour painting, often in combination with pen or pencil.

Peta exhibits frequently in group shows and has been selected for a variety of curated exhibitions. Most notably, she has been a finalist with her portraits and figurative works in the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize 2022, Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award (2020-2023, 2026) with a Highly Commended award in 2021, Bluethumb Art Prize 2022, and Revival Art & Design Emerging Artist Prize 2023-2024.
