Peta has developed her unique style from 30 years in a Cartographic environment. Mapping has now become a digitally dominated field and Peta wants to bring back the nostalgia of hand-made maps in a modern minimalistic style. Peta's work makes a statement and she would hope it is purchased for reasons other than to match curtains or cushions. The work is mostly technical with an infusion of colour. Many of her works will begin with a road network and from there the piece develops. Contours, a mapping element, feature regularly, as seen in her iconic portraits. Peta is comfortable with Acrylics, pastels, ink and pencils and her choice of medium regularly changes. Peta is very active on social media with progress shots and new work being shared daily. As an artist, she would consider herself versatile and is always exploring. Peta has only ever been able to draw what she could see in front of her, or from photos, as she is unable to visualise (Aphantasia) like most people, and in particular, most artists. As a result her methods are somewhat different to other artists. Peta’s signature utilises her middle name and initial of her first and maiden names. #plouiseg (Something she derived in her early teens and uses to this date.)

Not influenced by other artists I have avoided taking on the style of others in order to remain unique in my expression. Cartography is my major influence because of my 30 years experience with mapping. Precision, crisp line work and colour blocking is heavily featured in my work.
