So why Lilacs? Well, in the heart of Canada's vast and arid Saskatchewan, there was a place where magic bloomed amidst the dryness – Chrissy's childhood home. Her mother possessed a remarkable gift, a green thumb that whispered secrets to the earth and conjured the most enchanting garden. But it wasn't just the garden's beauty that left an indelible mark; it was the tradition of sharing its blossoms that made it legendary.
Amidst this floral wonderland, Lilacs held a place of honor. They were the heralds of spring, their fragrant blooms signaling the true awakening of the world. Lilac bushes enveloped their yard, turning it into a haven fit for fairies. It was a sight that left both adults and children alike enchanted, their hearts light with laughter as they "stole" fragrant twigs of Lilacs.
Chrissy's memory holds a vivid picture of her mother's dear friend, arms laden with Lilacs, lifting them to her nose to savor their exquisite scent. And when night fell, the garden's full fragrance would float up to Chrissy's open window, cradling her in a lullaby of Lilacs and dreams of garden fairies.
Time may have taken her mother, but her legacy of generosity and spirit lived on, not just in the town where Chrissy grew up, but also in the precious memories etched in her heart. This painting is a tribute to every gardener who tends to the earth with love and to every twig of Lilacs that graces the world with its joyful presence each spring.
