Artwork Description

In my quest to learn more skin painting techniques i chose to paint people with the most amount of skin on show. I find conventional beauty standards boring and made worse by overly sexualised magazine covers, music videos, tv etc...
I like the juxtaposition of unconventional beauty in a space usually reserved for conventional beauty.
Large, fat, obese people...what ever you want to call them, are so much more appealing to paint and generate a level of interest for me that your average 'magazine cover' model simply doesn't.

Artist Bio

Pete Conroy is an English artist based in Echuca. He focuses his attention on portraits and distortion of the human face and figure. Using traditional techniques mixed with a modern style he paints humans with impossibly stretched facial features and limbs.
Where the shape and structure of his subjects are out of sync with reality he attempts to bring the characters back into the realistic realm with a mix of modern and traditional techniques of oil painting.
