Artwork Description

Inspired by Mark Rothko with a French influence. Depending on how you approach the painting, the Eiffel Tower is either looming over you or reseeding.
This piece is a diptych and is designed to be hung close together but will work on two sides of a room corner.

Artist Bio

My name is Peter Arnold. I was given four names when I was born. The other two, Ralph Spencer, I've never used. It seems a real waste to have this many names and not use them so I've decided to sign my paintings with them. The back of all my stuff is signed Ralph Spencer and the front, Rasp.

I started painting and drawing when I was a kid but wasn't allowed to take art in high school. Too smart they said, you"ll do french. What a waste of time. I started painting again during COVID. I use mostly acrylics but I have most other mark making materials in my studio . Studio? Well a corner in the garage.

My art is an eclectic mix of styles. I paint landscapes from my local area. Coffs Harbour, and other places I have been. Mostly from photos I have taken. I make abstracts also, influenced by the abstract expressionists and some contemporary artists. Ideas for new works seem to just pop into my head so I jot them down on the ideas list. there"s still a lot on there.

I"m looking forward to extending my repertoire and getting some more of my art out into the world.

Thanks for taking the time to read to the end.
