It has deeply significant spiritual and cultural meaning to the indigenous Aboriginal people.

Artist Bio

Peter was born in Melbourne in 1944, was educated at Xavier College and studied Drawing at Swinburne College.
He also studied under Ambrose Griffin a well known Melbourne 1960’s landscape artist.
More recently he studied with Colin Johnson, notable Art Critique and International Art Teacher.
Colin is well known to the Gippsland Art scene having conducted painting courses with the late Charlie McCubbin for the Sale Regional Art Centre.

Peter exhibited in the 1960's at a number of Galleries, including those in Malvern and Camberwell, and took part in various Art Shows throughout Melbourne.

Due to pressing business commitments, time for painting was scarce until he retired in 2010.
Peter was a former President of AGRA (Australian Guild of Realistic Artists)
Currently, he is building a range of works of various Subjects and sizes from 60 x 45 cm up to 140 x 95mm.

The subject matter varies from Portraits, Animals, Landscapes and Seascapes.
Mediums include Oils and Acrylic on Canvas and Board.

Peter is motivated by unusual subjects painted from both local and international sources he has visited. He sees a scene through artistic eyes, and can immediately visualise a composition.
He enjoys painting realistic, dramatic and atmospheric works which feature an emphasis on texture, tone and colour.

More recently, he has increased his range to cover the exciting world of Abstraction, developing a point of difference in style and execution. The Style he describes as “Abstract Realism”.
These works are usually ready to hang without further framing requirements
