Artwork Description

The dried lakes in Victoria, Australia, present an almost infinite number of abstract photographic opportunities. Each season and year the colours change - from bright pinks and pale beiges and yellows through to richer, deeper colours like ochre and apricot. This image is one of a series of photographs taken over Lake Tyrrell in October 2024.

Artist Bio

My art is rooted in a deep fascination with the Australian landscape and the stories it holds: stories of transformation, resilience, and the ever-shifting boundary between the natural and the constructed. Working primarily from aerial perspectives, I seek to reveal the hidden patterns and unexpected beauty found in places shaped by both environmental forces and human hands.

Through a blend of abstraction and realism, I photograph the natural vibrant colour palettes and layered textures of salt lakes, wetlands and industrial sites. Each work is an invitation to pause and contemplate: How do we shape the land, and how does it shape us in return? There are moments where beauty and desolation meet, where a cracked shoreline or a cluster of industrial ponds becomes a canvas for reflection on our collective impact.

My process is as much about curiosity as it is about curation. I want viewers to feel a sense of discovery, to see the familiar anew, and to connect with the land in ways that are both personal and universal. Art, for me, isn’t just about decorating walls, it’s about filling those spaces with meaning which spark conversation and build community and joy in the places we call home.

Whether you’re a fellow artist, a collector, or someone who simply loves the quiet power of nature, I invite you to join me in exploring the stories written across the earth’s surface: one brushstroke, one aerial view, one shared moment at a time.
