Artwork Description

An American "Minnie-mouse" rests precariously atop a Chinese terracotta warrior replica.
This is a part of my home-totem series of still life paintings where I present regular domestic objects as totemic structures.

Winner of the Still Life Award in the Bluethumb Art Prize 2022, judge Del Kathryn Barton said of the work “The juxtaposition of old and contemporary-pop symbology evokes layered meanings; both absurdist and political.”

This artwork is currently available at Bluethumb's Melbourne Gallery in Richmond.
