Early Winter Sunrise

On the chilly, very clear mornings when there is no wind the river is like a mirror and is spectacular. This scene was taken with my drone from the eastern side of the Macleay river at Stuarts Point. You can see the Belt of Venus in the sky behind Yarrahapinni mountain and its reflection in the river.

I’ve loved painting since an early age but my passion really started when I moved to Broken Hill. Travelling the far west of NSW as a district relief teacher and seeing the landscapes inspired me. I was fortunate enough to meet Eric Minchin one of the “Brushmen of the Bush” who taught me the basics of oil painting. I still travel to the outback mainly around the far west of NSW and the Broken Hill area. Occasionally with my daughter‚ Sarah‚ who is a photographer (http://frankly-photography.com/) who captures those iconic outback scenes which I never tire of painting. Since moving back to the mid north coast of NSW I have started painting some scenes in my local area which I also find enjoyable to paint.
