Original Artwork by Philip Osborn
Mutawintji National Park just north of Broken Hill is a great place to explore. You will need to have plenty of charged batteries for your camera as there is fantastic scenery everywhere. Early morning and late afternoon are best. This a panorama taken on the morning walk.
I’ve loved painting since an early age but my passion really started when I moved to Broken Hill. Travelling the far west of NSW as a district relief teacher and seeing the landscapes inspired me. I was fortunate enough to meet Eric Minchin one of the “Brushmen of the Bush” who taught me the basics of oil painting. I still travel to the outback mainly around the far west of NSW and the Broken Hill area. Occasionally with my daughter‚ Sarah‚ who is a photographer (http://frankly-photography.com/) who captures those iconic outback scenes which I never tire of painting. Since moving back to the mid north coast of NSW I have started painting some scenes in my local area which I also find enjoyable to paint.
