Storm in the Sandhills

In the red sandhill country to the north and west of Broken Hill where vegetation is sparse, you can witness wonderful storms as they move across. They often don't last long and neither does the water they drop as quickly the sand soaks it up.

I’ve loved painting since an early age but my passion really started when I moved to Broken Hill. Travelling the far west of NSW as a district relief teacher and seeing the landscapes inspired me. I was fortunate enough to meet Eric Minchin one of the “Brushmen of the Bush” who taught me the basics of oil painting. I still travel to the outback mainly around the far west of NSW and the Broken Hill area. Occasionally with my daughter‚ Sarah‚ who is a photographer (http://frankly-photography.com/) who captures those iconic outback scenes which I never tire of painting. Since moving back to the mid north coast of NSW I have started painting some scenes in my local area which I also find enjoyable to paint.
