Inspired by watching many sunrises at Pearl Beach with the iconic Lion Island prominently displaying its restful presence. Low stormwaves break on the sand and a pair of gulls welcome the dawn.

Phil has devoted much of his retired life to painting the natural landscapes and seascapes that he values, appreciates and admires in his local environment at Pearl Beach NSW. He is a prolific painter believing that skills are acquired through practice as well as research. He has studied the techniques of many established and emerging landscape artists, across the globe. Electronic video media has been a welcome source of teaching and inspiration. Phil has experimented with a wide range of techniques and has developed a unique style that could be described as a blend of realism and primitive art. He uses acrylic and oil paints on canvas and board.
