Artwork Description

Giclée on paper

Signed and numbered with a certificate of authenticity.

Attracted by this flower stall against the old Eumundi CWA Hall, I loved the contrast of colour against the original CWA weatherboard and inspired by the creative, happy layout and variety of bright flowers that stood in front of me.

The original painting was painted with pen and ink and watercolours on Archers hot pressed paper in a photorealism style.

All art by Phillip Rolton

There are 9 locals or tourists enjoying their morning coffee either sitting on blue grey rock garden walls or standing in the shade of large green pandanus trees. A money red and yellow surfboard leans against the corner of the rock wall in the foreground and a lady wrapped in a green towel is washing her feet under the beach shower. The lineal architecture of the units are behind the pandanus trees. A rainforest scene with a dominating large buttress fig trunk to the left of the composition and of a fig surrounded by smaller thin and medium sized green leafy trees. Nature has strewn the foreground with a full coverage of autumn shades of dead leaves. This landscape, watercolour painting is of Little Cove Beach, Noosa National Park early morning when the tide is running out.

I've painted a corner of the heavily wooded National Park rainforest which leads down to the medium sized, bluish grey to white rocks that protect the beach. Tiny, ocean waves break over these beach rocks, covering some of the edge sand with the outgoing tide. This busy, cafe corner in Hastings Street with typical French cafe chairs lined on the footpath and shadowed by large green poincianas has attracted tourists and locals for their morning coffee for many years. A few locals are seated before the rush enjoying their first coffee of the day. Internal lighting with chandeliers define the internal dark walls and drink cabinets behind and provide a sophisticated tonal ambience.
