This painting, of the iconic YSL Fashion Boutique in St Germain is a contemporary juxtaposition of images inside the boutique and reflections from outside. It is an unconventional interpretation of a the reflected shop window.
The composition of the intermingling shapes, forms and light significantly influenced my approach to this artwork. The pavement still wet from the afternoon showers enhanced the visual aesthetics of the painting by introducing even more abstract shapes. My wife’s strong photographs captured the ever changing light components caused by the internal mirrored surfaces producing infinite vertical reflections
My intent was to produce a realism artwork maintaining the initial concept of the photographs.
