I took up painting a few years back as a hobby, paintings small landscape works based on the natural environment. These paintings were much appreciated by family and friends, and they encouraged me to put it on social media. I was overwhelmed by the response I received. Being a stay at home mum, I realised that I could do so much more outside of the mundane, daily routine which offered a little more than a “rinse and repeat” lifestyle. I was born in a small town in India growing up amidst nature, trees and a lot of greenery. Thus, the natural landscape is a common theme in almost all my artworks.
Oil paintings have always been my favourite because of its slow drying nature .They are fantastic for creating subtle blends and gives enough time for corrections and retouches. I prefer to use bright bold colours as they can lighten up any corner of the room and also one’s mood, however my choices in colour also depends upon the mood of the painting.
I am a self taught artist and follow the work of a lot of artist in social media. I do not know if not having a formal degree in art is a disadvantage for me but all I can say is that art is something which comes from your heart as the canvas is the mirror of your expression.
