Artwork Description

Inspired by a quiet nightly ritual of meditation with my daughter, this painting captures a moment of stillness and shared calm. Two figures drift in suspension, their bodies relaxed and weightless against a warm terracotta field. Simplified forms and deep blue tones emphasise light, shadow and the quiet connection between them.

Artist Bio

Pip is a Scottish–Australian contemporary artist based on Victoria's Surf Coast.

Working primarily in acrylic, her practice sits between contemporary figurative painting and surrealist ideas. Figures often appear isolated or paired within restrained compositions, where posture and placement suggest connection, distance and quiet tension. Landscapes are reduced and abstracted through layered texture and controlled colour, with subtle disruptions that hint at place rather than define it. Pip holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts from Deakin University and paints from her home studio on the Surf Coast.

Her recent work continues to explore psychological states through altered scale, ambiguous space and restrained colour, where the everyday shifts towards the surreal.
