Artwork Description

Into the mist, we must wander, as endlessly as the horizon we seek.
Only the waves call us to the present, a constant reminder that even still, we move.
The undercurrent, the only true direction, can only be felt in surrender.
To struggle is to exhaust; to float is to freedom.

Artist Bio

PollyannaR is a bold, contemporary artist whose practice has evolved from large-scale public art to emotive watercolour painting.
Born in 1989 in rural Victoria, she spent the first 15 years of her life illiterate due to severe dyslexia. Turning to visual expression, PollyannaR found her voice through art. After gaining recognition for creating one of the world’s longest photographs in 2015, she transitioned to painting, exploring the subtle and intimate aspects of the human condition through watercolour.

Her work is characterized by a delicate balance of light and dark, capturing both vulnerability and resilience.
Her paintings, often infused with personal and emotional themes, offer a contemplative view into the quieter, more intimate moments of life, where water and pigment meet to tell a story accompanied by the poems inspired by them.

PollyannaR's art collections are made even more distinctive by her unique naming system. Each painting is titled based on the day it is completed, beginning with Day 1 on September 18, 2024. This approach creates a continuous and consistent archive of her work, a living timeline of her artistic journey. With her sights set on painting Day 9125, PollyannaR envisions a career filled with creative evolution, marking each day with the lasting imprint of her artistry. This system makes her work rare and deeply personal, intertwining art with the passage of time.
