The latest in my Minimalist series. At 1 x 1.5 metres, I’m super proud of this one.
“Imperfect Harmony” is a reference to the endless lockdowns we’ve endured and the not so ‘perfect harmony’ that my family and I created. Trying to navigate our way around each other and on top of each other 24/7 for soooo long.
But we worked together. We all had to compromise and learn patience. And we did it. Together. I’m still married and my kids are still alive. So that’s a massive win!!!
This piece looks simple but there are so many layers which created the perfect colour combos.
There’s no room for error with this style and this painting took many, many hours of continually making small adjustments, to create just the right shapes and composition.
I painted lots of layers of thin paint, applied with a very light touch, to create depth, eliminate brush strokes and achieve an almost perfectly smooth surface.
Although the endless lockdown has ended, I’m still craving quiet time, stillness and simplicity.
Painting takes me into an almost meditative state. Hours can go by without me even noticing. It literally feeds my soul.
I hope you enjoy.
