The latest in my Minimalist series.
This painting is another response to my life in Melbourne over the past few years. It's been a pretty grey place. My happy place is in the sunshine, on the beach and watching the sunset. So here's my happy place.
This piece looks simple but there are so many layers which created the perfect colour combos.
Thereโs no room for error with this style and this painting took many, many hours of continually making small adjustments, to create just the right shapes and composition.
I painted lots of layers of thin paint, applied with a very light touch, to create depth, eliminate brush strokes and achieve an almost perfectly smooth surface.
Painting takes me into an almost meditative state. Hours can go by without me even noticing. It literally feeds my soul.
I hope you enjoy.
