Artwork Description

I have always been intrigued by this majestic bird, a symbol of love and pride in our culture. Gorgeous fish masking as the bird’s feather, it is almost mesmerising to see where one fish ends and the other one begins. Continuing with the legacy of Madhubani painting, ancient art form that originated in Mithila region in India, this art work is my humble attempt to bring joy in your lives.

Artist Bio

I am a self-taught, freelance artist living in Melbourne. My work has strong reflections of culture and traditions from India, a place where I was born and brought up. I am trained as a therapist and I have worked with people with developmental disabilities for over fifteen years in India. Art and expression had always been an integral part of my work and this has enriched me both as an individual and as an artist. My work is inspired by individuality of all things past and present. I have a keen interest in traditional Indian art forms namely Madhubani, Warli and Gond. I find myself continually drawn to the intricacies of these age-old folk art styles and enjoy retelling the stories through my contemporary renditions.
I strongly believe art is a continuous journey and I get to learn something new every day.

My works have been exhibited in 3 Solo Exhibitions in Melbourne. I have been part of Creative Spaces Art Exhibitions along with numerous other group exhibitions in Melbourne for last 5 years.
