I often visit Kangaroo Island and am lucky enough to be able to use my Mum's beach house whilst there. The Island holds a very special place in my heart and I always find myself filled with inspiration whilst immersed in the Natural world that abounds there. Mum's garden on the Island is brimming with Banksia, Callistemon, Correa and many other beautiful natives. Come Autumn when the Banksia are in bloom, they look and sound as if they are singing. New Holland Honey Eaters, Fairy Wrens and Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos are just some of the visitors amongst the Banksias' branches, the bird song paired with the plant's funny seed pods covered in mouth like openings always give me the impression that they are singing to me.
This is a small detail study of a seedpod from the Banksia Integrifolia growing in Mum's garden . I love studying and exploring the finer details of the natural world, it is a good reminder of how much precious beauty surrounds us and the importance of preserving that.
