I am always fascinated by mangroves along our coastline. In my small oil painting I have evoked, in abstract form, a lush and tangled vitality of mangroves. Various shades of green, ranging from deep emerald to pale lime, interweave across the surface in expressive shapes, suggesting dense foliage and sinuous roots. Ochre highlights punctuate the scene, catching the eye like dappled sunlight on bark and reflecting sediment in brackish water. The overall composition is organic and rhythmic, conveying the quiet resilience and intricate beauty of a mangrove without relying on literal presentation.
