Top of the Path

A large tree shelters you at the peak of the hill while you contemplate a quiet view, stillness and the promise of unseen paths beyond. Inspired by the view at the top of Mount Pleasant in Canberra. The foliage in the trees is portrayed in shades of green intersected with snatches of light blue sky. The foreground is a whimsical depiction of grasses and rocks fading to a misty valley beyond. I have used many layers of oil paint and glazing, together with scratching back in places to achieve the peaceful mood of this beautiful hilltop.

I like to paint what I see and experience in my daily life - from small snippets to large vistas. The streets and bushland near me are my inspiration. I enjoy being an artist and aim to convey that joy to others. Although I work with a variety of media, I love the plasticity of oil and acrylic paint, using multiple layers to achieve colour, texture and depth.
