Artwork Description

This painting uses impasto application to enhance the explosive splash of the water generated by the black water bird on touch down. The doulcite apricot tones of the evening sunlight sets the scene beautifully. Thanks to my cousin, the late Frank McDonald of Townsville whose photography inspired this work.

I started oil painting when I retired as an infectious disease pathology scientist in December 2019. I especially like to paint landscapes and still life's. I am largely self taught. I find myself painting, making panels and frames most days of the week. I love what I do; it is challenging but rewarding . I have been a finalist in The Doyles Art Awards in 2022, 2024 and 2025.
