This work is one of my "Nature is taking back the city" series. It was inspired by the year 2022 when the whole world was experiencing the panic of the coronavirus pandemic. Cities have been locked down one after another. With fewer tourists and cruise ships, the water in Venice is crystal clear; The same goes for the Great Orme Kashmiri goats seen on the streets of Llandudno. This makes me think what will happen in the city of Brisbane.
Emu is my second choice. Personally, I prefer birds, and emu is one of the animals on the Australian national emblem, so it is quite suitable for Anzac Square, I think. What was difficult for me when painting this one was how to harmoniously integrate the sculptures in the square, the memorial shrine monument and the central station building into one painting, not to mention adding the protagonist Emu of this painting. In the end, I'm quite happy with the finished result.
