Kangaroo - King George Square

This work is one of my "Nature is taking back the city" series. It was inspired by the year 2022 when the whole world was experiencing the panic of the coronavirus pandemic. Cities have been locked down one after another. With fewer tourists and cruise ships, the water in Venice is crystal clear; The same goes for the Great Orme Kashmiri goats seen on the streets of Llandudno. This makes me think what will happen in the city of Brisbane.
Kangaroos are the first animals that come to my mind. They always come in groups, which makes it easy for me to lay them out and fill up King’s Square because King’s Square is very big. At the entrance of Brisbane City Hall, I painted some details. Although the scene with people wearing protective clothing is very uncomfortable, the symbol of that special period is the mask and protective clothing, right?

I am a full-time landscape architect, who enjoys to record the things around me through painting. My paintings are full of life and rich in stories. Emphasis on light and shadow, whether it is hot midsummer or evening sunset, light and shadow is a sharp tool to capture time. My pictures have a degree of relaxation, with both a loose and relaxed "stage" (background) and fine and delicate "actors" (foreground). I like to capture the breath of life, whether it is the workers in the narrow alleys taking a break and smoking a cigarette, or the people who are lazy on the beach, or the people chatting in the park, or the people exploring in the wild forest and mountain streams, I like to record these bits and pieces.
