The square wood panel oil painting (20cm x 20cm) subject is of the ubiquitous Beach Stone Curlew sighted through Cairns and especially the mudflats and under the trees around the central lagoon. Their calls during the night are eerie and atmospheric. Two species dominate FNQ, the Beach Stone Curlew and the Bush Stone Curlew.
This particular bird I saw and photographed while weaving between the low tide hunting the little crabs that cover the esplanade foreshore.
This is a smaller piece, ready to hang to bring a native-bird and aquatic element to your living space.
