‘Stanmore treasure’ continues my focus on capturing the details of found treasures such as leaves. Growing up in the Blue Mountains, I felt a strong connection with nature. Now living in the Inner West of Sydney, I am constantly trying to find ways to connect with nature in a more urban environment. Discovering, appreciating, collecting, curating and recording are some of the ways I do this.
This work depicts two sides of the same beautiful leaf, found in Stanmore, capturing the tiny details and vibrant colours. Framed under glass, with the artwork floating and a light wood with a white mat.
This artwork received a very highly commended award in the watercolour section of the 2025 Drummoyne Art Awards with the judge commenting "Something beautiful created as an artwork from something potentially ordinary. There's something very satisfying looking at this piece"
