Self portrait. The process for this portrait was interesting. I had built up the layers to create a rather impasto self portrait but was not happy with the result. I then proceeded to peel the impasto paint off the canvas and was left with the under drawing and a large white area. Henceforth the portrait was salvaged. The same day I had walked around a cemetery and felt like my portrait had a spiritual component to it. The outline of where I had peeled the paint away resembled a nuns attire, so I painted myself like that. Hence the title ‘Salvation’.
