Ocean’s Edge is a relief texture acrylic painting abstractedly portraying the ocean as it meets our luxurious sandstone shores in a deconstructed style. From the Sediments of Time series which expands the theme of my recent collections exploring Australia’s unique ecosystem, diverse topography, and colour. This series depicts the rich sandstone which adorns Australia's coastline, its undulating permutations, variation in colour and grain and the strata layers of natural sediment, nooks crannies and hidden gems deposited and buried long ago.
The spiral is a subtle symbol for evolution evoking an important conservation message and the need for us to nurture our planet for future generations to enjoy.
Approximately 15 layers of acrylic medium and paint are used to build the relief texture, colour overlay and detail. Accents of glass beads provide a hint of shimmer. The subtle cracks are deliberately added using a specially created acrylic medium to add texture, depth and to enrich the characteristics of the theme. Shapes and contours are carved into the medium, using mostly non-traditional objects. All the acrylic paint and textured acrylic medium used in this painting is professional artist quality which means the colours have very good light fast properties.
Canvas is stretched and ready to hang in either landscape or portrait; flip it up or down, anyway you prefer. Sides are clean, finished cream, so it can be hung without a frame or add a frame of your choice. Signed on the side and authored on the back. Comes with a certificate of authenticity.
