Silent, elegant, ornamental, this stylized portrait represents young women throughout the ages.
A lunette window sheds filtered light onto the sitter. Is she a ballet dancer? An actress? An aristocrat?
The elongated style is influenced by 16th century Italian Mannerist painter Parmigianino. I studied Renaissance History at Oxford University and this artist was one of my favourites.
