Artwork Description

This is a work in a series portraying Leonard Cohen (1934-2016). Poet, author, songwriter and performing artist, Leonard lived on the island of Hydra in Greece where he wrote the song alluded to in this art work: "Bird on the Wire" (1968). My connection to Leonard is from Hydra, where I have had a home since the 1980s.
Our home is in the same neighbourhood of white-washed island houses that you see in this painting, as Leonard stands on his terrace, a young man in the 1960s.

Comes framed in thick edge white timber floating frame.

Artist Bio

Art School at 18 and later studied Art History at Oxford University. Lived in Florence, Italy for many years where I worked as an art critic. My second home is on the Greek island of Hydra. I moved there in 1986 and married French artist Michel Le Goff, on Hydra in 1993. I currently work from a home studio in Newcastle, NSW and visit Hydra, when possible.
