Other Media on linen, ready to hang.
Signed on the back.
Whilst experimenting in using materials other than paint on the linen surface, I began exploring the qualities of wool. The vibrant colours and beautiful textures of the wool appealed to me. I started to sew onto the linen surface and noticed that each thread and stitch resembled tiny brush strokes. After sewing dense stitches in lines, I cut down the middle of the stitches and this created rows of thick carpet. I tried different patterns, like this geometric one in 'Green Maze', and was reminded of aerial views of crops or gardens. 'Green Maze ' reflects my love of texture and colour.
The tapestry wool used in this work is resistant to moths and other insects.
With the beautiful shades of green and the interesting pattern of the wool, 'Green Maze' would add warmth and colour to any room.
