Inspired by travels through Indonesia and my deep love of unique vases and vessels, this artwork (and the whole Florero collection) is a celebration of beauty and aesthetic. I was frequently stopped in my tracks by wall niches filled with different kinds of treasures, knick-knacks, bowls and books. Sometimes styled to perfection, sometimes just thrown together - they always evoked in me a sense of celebrating the small moments of beauty in our lives. A reminder to stop for a second and appreciate the beauty around us.
Armed with a brain full of beautiful memories, hundreds of photos and a gorgeous tropical colour palette, I returned home to my studio to invent my own collections of wall niches filled with treasures. Using oil pastels for detailing was a beautiful way to infuse these artworks with a sense of play and spontaneity - the ultimate travel emotions!
Thus the Florero collection was born - artworks capturing a moment in time.
Pomelo features a 3-part arch niche with a vibrant tangerine vase in the middle, with some whimsical vessels, books, a lemon and some flowers.
Hand-framed in locally sourced, reclaimed pine by the artist, the frames may have some small marks on them consistent with reclaimed wood. When purchasing, you acknowledge and accept this.
